Seeking extraordinary software engineers with deep experience in Kubernetes and Kubernetes Operators to power scalable data processing services. Looking for established open source contributors, who actively engage with both open source component teams and our internal users. As a Software Engineer on the ASE Data Platform team, you will play a crucial role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that is utilized company-wide. You will tackle complex challenges, work with cutting-edge open-source technologies, and contribute to the development of systems for petabyte-scale analytics. Additionally you will collaborate closely with many cross-functional teams, Apple scale customers, and continuously evolve your skills in a dynamic Kubernetes environment.

Key Qualifications

  • Successful track-record or demonstrated aptitude as an engineer who has worked on distributed systems.
  • Steering Committee member (CNCF), Project Management Committee member (ASF) or equivalent on an established Kubernetes project.
  • In depth knowledge of Kubernetes internals.
  • Proven experience working with at least one public cloud offering (AWS, GCP etc).
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes integration of distributed processing engines such as Apache Spark, Apache Flink or Ray.
  • Proven community engagement in the form of blogposts, conference talks.

The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) team is one of the most exciting examples of Apple’s long-held passion for combining art and technology. We are the people who power the App Store, Apple TV and Sports, Apple Music, Podcasts, and Books along with Cloud and Infrastructure Services platforms. The ASE DataPlatform team needs a strong self driven engineer who can work both new Kubernetes Operators and internal managed service offering for upcoming and existing services. We are looking for a recognized expert in the field who can collaborate with service teams to review and optimise our existing large Data Platform Kubernetes footprint.

Education & Experience

MS or PhD degree in computer science or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • The minimum salary pursuant to the applicable collective bargaining agreement amounts to €60214 gross per year for full time employment. Actual salaries are oriented at current market salaries and take your qualifications and experience into account.
