We are seeking a world-class Material Thin Film Engineer with experience in thin-film processes and material science to join the PPO Engineering team. You are expected to be a technical pioneer in relevant field, such as display, semiconductor, or optics. This position demands technical breadth and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Description

1. Lead engineering investigation, equipment, and process development for new concepts and advanced technology in optical applications 2. Work with process specialists and vendors to design and implement experiments using thin film equipment such as PVD, CVD, Wet Coating, etc. 3. Optimize and improve existing thin film processes and materials for better performance, reliability, and cost reduction. 4. Facilitate scale-up of process technology to mass production. 5. Work with vendors to identify and modify key materials that can enable new optical technologies. 6. Take full ownership to drive technologies from R&D to implementation on real products with multi-functional teams. 7. Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 15%

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong technical background in process experience of a display panel, optical coating, or flexible electronics
  • In-depth knowledge of thin films, coating processes, optical & material characterization, surface and interfacial science, and material chemistry.
  • Understand and Experience on thin film PVD process (or CVD)
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex material and interface challenges in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in materials characterization: SEM, EDX, AFM, XRD, etc
  • Strong experience in the design of experiments and corresponding statistical data analysis
  • Expertise in surface and interface analysis, characterization, failure analysis, etc.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English
  • Education: MS or PhD or equivalent experience in Material Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Optics, Engineering Physics, Physics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience and proven track record in relevant areas in optical films, polymer films, coatings & materials, sophisticated process technology development, and associated equipment
  • Experience leading domestic and international vendors
  • Knowledgeable of thin film deposition and corresponding metrology methods (ex. PVD, CVD, ALD, wet coatings/processing, XPS, SEM, TEM, AFM, and XRD, etc.)
  • Understanding of optical coatings design, finite element analysis (FEA), light-matter interactions and corresponding basics
  • 3+ years of work experience in a related field
