Software Engineer, Apple Services Engineering
Candidate will be responsible for engineering and maintaining services related to iCloud metadata management. This includes writing, testing, and deploying Java code, monitoring the services and their dependencies, and keeping the services operational. Light on-call duties, primarily during business hours, one week every few weeks.
The iCloud Metadata Management team works across iCloud to help keep everything neat and tidy. If you have an iCloud account, our team’s services have taken care of it. We solve complex problems on a worldwide scale, handle massive amounts of data, and work hard to keep iCloud running efficiently. We dive deep into the details, working with the apps you know and use every day - like Photos, Mail, and Notes - to understand those systems, and to build solutions that keep our platform running well. And because our services maintain our users most important data, we operate with a deep level of care and precision.
You will be writing, testing, and deploying code, then monitoring our services and their dependencies across iCloud. You will be working cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders: understanding their needs, collaboratively designing solutions, and building functionality to solve problems. We do all of this with the utmost care, because reliability is our top priority. We have billions of users that expect the highest quality, and when you obsess over the customer experience - as we do at Apple - you’ll have the opportunity to do your life’s best work. If you’re an engineer that wants to work in a massively distributed system, in a high-stakes area where you have to get it right, where the details matter - the Metadata Management team is for you.
