We are a small, dynamic engineering team focused on the design, development and scale-up of novel composite (ceramic and polymer) materials. We work closely with our European Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) site to ensure technology-transfer and the subsequent production of these materials is carried out. You will actively be involved in all stages of the product cycle from initial design, through development, scale-up, to full commercial production. The role encompasses aspects of both engineering and operations management, in which you will be lead a team of Apple manufacturing design engineers, as well as handling the relationship and all production-related activities at a third-party OEM. The position is a full-time, permanent position based in Munich, Germany.

Key Qualifications

  • Comfortable in assuming a leadership role and carrying responsibility for both an Apple engineering team as well as a third party OEM
  • Previous personnel and project management experience
  • High level of language proficiency: fluency in English essential, in German preferential
  • Strong understanding of technical production processes, workflows and supply chains
  • Experience working in a dynamic environment with an ability to plan, organize and track daily team tasks, as well as develop longer-term projects within the framework of a larger organization

Description

You will lead a small team of internal Apple design engineers who: Design and develop novel (porous ceramic – polymer) composite materials Own the development and implementation of new processes as required Design, modify and run a pilot-line (in Munich) to support production trials through to line and process qualification Scale-up of these processes to enable mass production Handle the subsequent technology transfer to OEM partner, with close support to operational readiness Design and establishment of procedures and documentation for processing, quality control testing and shipment of finished goods Monitor consistency to high quality standards throughout sustained production Develop and qualify second-source suppliers for key raw materials Being a trusted partner to our OEM, you will maintain the relationship with senior partners with an emphasis on: OEM facility and personnel readiness Planning for capacity and scale-up while focusing on on-time delivery of product Co-ordination, planning and management of OEM production activities, in conjunction with OEM Ops team Establishment of high quality parameters, and driving consistency in achievement of these parameters during sustained production establishing process efficiency and productivity, and driving yield improvement Co-ordination with Apple operations team for long-term forecasting & planning purposes Co-ordination with downstream partners (customers) on supply and quality issues Management of supply chain, in particular key equipment and materials vendors Budgeting ad product cost management

Education & Experience

Bachelor/Master Degree in a Science, Technology or an Engineering subject.
