Join Apple, and help us leave the world better than we found it. The Enclosure Global Supply Manager (Enclosure GSM) will work within the Beats organization. GSM will partner with multi-functional product teams across Apple to develop and introduce new products that are both innovative and cost advantaged. Apple GSMs own the commercial relationship with our enclosure manufacturing partners and are responsible for cost negotiations, continuity of supply, risk management, driving operational and cost efficiencies through process or design change, as well overall project execution. GSMs sit at the intersection of Apple's business activities and engineering communities, and effectively balance the needs of both groups to ensure successful product launches. Mechanical/ Enclosure components define the look, feel and expression of Apple’s globally recognized industrial and product design. GSMs work in concert with operations, supply quality, and supply base engineers as well as Apple’s Product Design and Industrial Design teams. Together, these teams implement and scale both new and existing manufacturing processes, materials, technologies, finishes and form factors.

Key Qualifications

  • - 5+ years of experience in supply chain development, sourcing management, project management or strong mechanical engineering background in product development
  • - Top-notch analytical/negotiation skills
  • - Ability to toggle between strategic and detail orientated thinking
  • - Tenacious problems solving and issues resolution skills
  • - Deep expertise with “should cost” modeling
  • - Ability to challenge the engineering design team on requirements, specifications and suggest alternate designs that meet design requirements
  • - Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
  • - Ability to influence across multiple functional teams
  • - Flexibility to adapt dynamic and rapidly changing environments
  • - Excellent communicators, capable of working in multinational environments, driven and motivated by accomplishing extraordinary objectives
  • - Hands-on experience in any of the following: Mechanical engineering, mechanical development, manufacturing practices / techniques involving CNC machined parts, enclosures, casings, jigs, tooling, fixtures, injection molding, cable extrusions, cable assembly, etc
  • - Ability to travel 50%


- Successful GSMs thrive in a rapidly changing environment and constantly drive excellence across their own responsibilities as well as that of team members and partners. They frequently demonstrate strategic internal relationships to effectively collaborate with engineering, operations and other Apple teams. You are able to make thoughtful decisions with the information available, think and stay focused under pressure, and communicate concisely and effectively with senior management as well as peers. GSMs identify and scale manufacturing partners as well as implementing creative and strategic commercial deals to achieve goals around cost, supply, and quality. - Plan and implement NPI strategies from the product concept stage to the engineering builds and through product ramp. - Work as a project manager to lead NPI ramp at enclosure vendor site. - Manage healthy supply of sustaining products, line extensions, market drops till EOL. - Work with US counterpart on should cost, negotiate with vendors to meet cost target during NPI and cost down plan post ramp. - Drive detailed cost trade-off analyses. - Manage mechanical cost BOM to ensure mechanical cost targets meet overall product cost goals. Challenge high cost parts and propose alternative solutions, until cost target is met. - Investigate and propose manufacturing processes, designs and materials that optimize cost for our x-functional engineering partners. - Investigate off-AVL suppliers and/or vertically coordinated supply chains and spearhead the x-functional team to bring them up as a strategic Apple AVL supplier. - Drive product cost optimization and industry/supply chain intelligence through competitive product tear down activities and bottoms up cost estimation.

Education & Experience

BSME or BSIE, or equivalent. MBA a plus
