As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last! You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras! The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. We are looking for an enthusiastic, high energy individual who can help us with tomorrow’s challenges. In this role, the candidate will drive the development of next-generation camera hardware and chipset architecture. This role requires broad EE, fundamental physics and signal processing skills, algorithm and FW/SW interactions. You will work with cross functional teams to model and define chipset architecture understanding key system level requirements, trade-offs, and optimization between different components on the system

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in digital design with chip or system level architecture development.
  • Demonstrated background in novel or high-performance image sensing devices/systems a strong plus
  • Being familiar with general industry trends and technical challenges for high performance and low power imaging sensors.
  • Experience with modeling and simulating device/system level conceptual designs, assessing power/performance/area tradeoffs and to explore IP/device/system level performance parameters a strong plus
  • Proficient in Matlab/SystemC/SysML or other high-level modeling languages
  • Knowledge of image sensor performance metrics, image sensor usage, integration into camera systems and image sensor manufacturing technology is preferred
  • Ability to span and connect across system design, device level architecture, micro-architecture and drive design activities toward compliance to requirements
  • Experience with low power and high performance link interfaces such as DP, MIPI preferred
  • Expertise in control interface protocols and topologies preferred
  • Experience in algorithm development and signal processing data-path design or Neural Network processing is a plus
  • Experience in secure hardware development and hardening against physical attacks is a plus
  • Multi-disciplinary understanding of EE, CE and Physics principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and solid collaboration and leadership skills

Description

- Work multi-functionally to architect and develop digital control and processing architectures for novel camera sensors that enable innovative product features - Identify opportunities for advancement in camera platform architecture aligned with emerging technologies, competitive performance requirements, and critical system constraints - Evaluate problem space to determine key system requirements - Evaluate solution space including system constraint discovery to identify creative architectural implementation approaches - Develop & drive chip level architecture specifications through the implementation phase - Drive productization of sensor features across hardware, software and system, assess feature and implementation tradeoffs - Conduct hands-on analysis including algorithm optimization and performance, power characterization to help define architecture plans - Advance architectural tooling and methodologies

Education & Experience

BS and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
