Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you deeply understand how an incredible camera experience should work? As part of our Camera Technologies group, you’ll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You’ll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You’ll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we’ll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. Apple Vision Pro is a revolutionary spatial computer that seamlessly blends digital content with your physical space. It will allow us to do the things we love in ways never before possible — all while staying connected to the people around us. In this role, you will be the focal point of defining camera technology for Apple Vision products. The position allows you to work on wide range of of topics including hardware & architecture definition, firmware & algorithm development, and hands-on characterization.

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Expertise in dynamic modeling, and control systems design, including realizations for electronic and electromechanical systems
  • Expertise in estimation and Kalman filtering
  • Practical experience with machine learning, computational photography and image stabilization algorithms
  • Ability to formulate lumped-mass dynamic models from first principles, and proficiency with flexible body dynamics
  • Expertise in the use of Matlab and Simulink for modeling and simulation
  • Expertise in systems characterization and indentification
  • Proficiency with test equipment such as dynamic signal analyzers and oscilloscopes
  • Experience with real-time control-system realization with micro-controllers (DSP, C, C++)
  • Broad knowledge of engineering concepts (device behavior, troubleshooting, data- analysis, systems modeling)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - the ability to collaborate across groups
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to take ownership of complicated problems and see them through to completion

Description

- Camera systems-level analysis and modeling of imaging and sensing systems, modeling dynamic systems and developing robust control strategies - Inventing and validating camera algorithms - Definition of tests and procedures to determine parametric specifications, and the documentation of requirements and design considerations.

Education & Experience

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

Additional Requirements

  • Familiarity with AR/VR camera feature development
  • Familiarity with AF, OIS, and EIS techniques
  • Familiarity with CV and ML algorithms camera controls
  • Familiarity with inertial navigation sensors and sensor fusion
  • Familiarity with camera, optics and electro-optics technology
  • Familiarity with SMA, PZT, and MEMS control
  • Familiarity with XPC target
  • Familiarity with NI CRIO Real-time
  • FPGA control-system realizations
  • Automation of measurement procedures and data analysis (Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Proficiency with simple mechanical 3D modeling and having parts made through 3rd parties
  • Familiarity with CAD/Solid Modeling tools
  • Familiarity with Python
