Image Quality Engineer

Apple's camera solution is complex, and the Image Quality Qualification team is searching for a candidate with strong skills related to photography, camera processing, or image science who is passionate about learning more. We will give you the additional skills needed to be successful since you will play a key role in driving photo & video image quality, shaping the future of Apple's cameras.
We are looking for a great teammate dedicated to understanding, analyzing, and debugging innovative camera features. This role requires an understanding of different camera pipeline components and their impact on image and video quality, a clear vision of what constitutes a phenomenal camera, and a strong dedication to drive features into a better camera user experience. You will participate in quality evaluations for new features and algorithms, through experimental studies both in-lab and in the field, and provide direct feedback to the engineering teams. In this role you'll be a critical part of a fast-paced, collaborative team and who thrive in high energy, time-constrained, multitasking environment to significantly impact our image/video quality.
- Good understanding of how to test and measure image and video quality in the lab, including experimental setup, capture automation, and quality metrics.
- Knowledge of image characteristics that determine quality, including contrast, sharpness, color accuracy, and noise.
- Python programming for image processing, data manipulation, file management, or automation of lab experiments.
- MATLAB programming for image processing, data manipulation, file management, or automation of lab experiments.
- Hands-on experience with objective and subjective image quality evaluation, including color Strong understanding of imaging systems, including camera sensors, optics, image signal processors, and computational photography techniques.
- Knowledge of photography lab equipment and experience operating camera systems in a lab.
- Obj-C/Swift programming for app development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate and work cross functionally.
- Bachelor’s or Masters Degree in one or more of the following fields: Image Science, Color Science, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent educational experience in digital imaging.
