The Platform Kernel team within Apple's Core OS organization is looking for an exceptional engineer to work on state-of-the art kernel technology for macOS and iOS. Working on a core technology for Darwin, you will have the opportunity to have a major impact on the design and implementation of Apple's operating systems.

Key Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of the C programming language
  • Previous experience with UNIX kernel engineering
  • Genuine passion for kernel technology and systems engineering
  • Programming in ARM assembly
  • Understanding of modern CPU design
  • Extensive knowledge of hardware platforms & processor architectures
  • Low level debugging experience
  • Demonstrated creative, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Highly professional, with the ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
  • Excellent collaborative skills including written and verbal communication


- Work with a highly skilled engineering team in the design and implementation of kernel technologies - Drive product features and specifications on Apple’s product line - Bring up, verification, and debug of new hardware platforms - Work with cross-functional teams to support product requirements

Education & Experience

BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with multiple hardware architectures (Intel x86, ARM, MIPS, PPC)
