The Compliance Manager is a multifaceted, highly motivated leader willing to take on a challenging role as a regulatory leader in Mexico and Central America region. This person is responsible for managing Latin American Countries’ Regulatory Agencies with a focus on Mexico ensuring that certification requirements can be fulfilled at the earliest possible time. They establish lead times, maintain processes and manage country consultants and/or agencies to ensure acquisition of Regulatory Agency Certifications within established lead times. They collaborate with multiple groups including: Engineering, Operations, Product Safety, EMC, and Telecommunications to settle requirements for each country. - Strong knowledge of Latin America certification requirements and experience with various regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written in Spanish and English.
- Must be able to work independently as well as in multi-functional teams.
- Minimum 5 years relevant working experience.
- Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
- Proficient in English, & Spanish. Portuguese a plus.
Manage regional regulatory approval process for new products. Responsible for acquiring Product Safety, EMC, SAR, and telecom approvals to meet product launch dates. Ensure regulatory labeling compliance. Provide Finance with annual forecasts and quarterly updates for regional certification costs. Develop a schedule for securing agency approvals, establish agency unit requirements and ensure confidentiality guidelines are met. Manage regulatory agency manufacturing site certification in plants where products are developed (if required). Coordinate departmental and cross- functional teams to successfully deliver new products in the region. Assist Corporate Compliance Product Safety, EMC and Telecommunications teams as the need arises. Support new product lab testing. Understand test procedures and obtain test software and parts as needed from Corporate Compliance and Engineering. Communicate with Apple Latin America Management regarding planning, forecasting and availability issues. Provide all Product Safety, EMC and Telecommunication agency logos, registration numbers and labeling information to AMR Product Managers. Provide weekly status on approval schedule, progress and issues. Develop metrics indicating lead time and actual agency approval efficiency time. Initiate and approve Requests for Action (RFA) for process and related Product Safety, EMC, Telecommunication, Labeling and Regulatory Agency Approval documents release and changes. Monitor legislation impacting testing, EMC, telecom, SAR, and other agency approval requirements. Work to resolve and provide timely information to affected parties of any slippage in schedule. Initiate and strive for process improvement. If necessary, leverage Government Affairs and Country Sales Office involvement in the Regulatory Agency Certification process. Identify and hire outstanding country consultants to reduce lead times and costs. Continuously evaluate the process, consultants and local country office support to ensure outstanding certification lead times.
Education & Experience
BS in Engineering or strong technical background
