As part of Apple’s Machine Learning Research organization, we do world-class scientific research and build the technologies that will power future products at Apple. The ML Research Team does extraordinary research and development across a wide range of domains including understanding and improving ML, addressing bias and fairness in algorithms, privacy and federated learning, embodied and interactive ML systems, computer vision, and more. The techniques and tools we build will change ML solutions across Apple, which in turn power most of the features we deliver to billions of consumers worldwide. We are looking for highly motivated, hardworking engineers with a strong background in ML engineering and software development to join our team. In this position, you will work with researchers across the MLR group to build scalable, distributed training and research pipelines in the latest and greatest generative models, large language models, speech, federated learning and privacy.

Key Qualifications

  • Proficiency in a programming language such as Python, Objective-C, C++, Swift, and/or R. Candidates should have experience completing a moderate-sized software project
  • Proven ability to connect and collaborate with others
  • Ideal candidates will also have academic, research, or proven experience in one of the following: Natural Language Processing, Neuroscience, Information Retrieval/Search, Optimization and Computer Vision.

Description

Our team focuses on new types of Machine Learning models and algorithms that work on sequential data such as language, conversations, speech and videos. It is composed of premier researchers with diverse experience in focus areas such as Deep Learning, Speech Recognition and Synthesis, Supervised, Semi-Supervised and Unsupervised Learning, Language Modeling (and conversational agents) and developing new ML Frameworks, among other things.

Education & Experience

Graduate degree or equivalent experience in a STEM field or equivalent industry experience in software engineering
