The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for all research, design, development, test, and qualification of camera hardware for Apple products. The Camera Electronics team develops image sensor and other silicon solutions and technologies for Apple’s products, including the iPhone, iPad, MacBooks, and more. The key goal of the team is to enable the world’s best camera experience for our customers. New challenges arise every day that require the sharp analytical skills of hardworking and smart individuals. We are looking for a System Characterization and Validation Lead to be a part of the next advanced electro-optical technology development.

Key Qualifications

  • Team lead / management experience: 2-4 years
  • Deep understanding of optical systems (design considerations, trade-offs and constraints)
  • Multidisciplinary background in a R&D organization as a System / Qualification / Algo / Characterization engineer : 3-5 years
  • Hands on experience with: Matlab and/or Python, lab automation and / or robots
  • Hands-on experience with lab optical setups, testing equipment and / or electro-optical components
  • Optical test equipment development in collaboration with vendors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (mainly English)
  • Great teammate and leadership skills


- Manage a team of experts as part of a unique R&D activity - Develop and collaborate with global multidisciplinary R&D team - Characterize the performance envelope at each one of the following development phases: prototypes, through components, modules, and up to full system level - Develop multidisciplinary testing fixtures: from requirements, through design, SW and Algo, and up to implementation and training - Frequent travels are required, up to 25% of the time

Education & Experience

M.Sc./ PhD in Electro-Optics / System engineering / Physics / Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
