The Imaging and Sensing group at Apple develops depth sensing systems such as the revolutionary True Depth camera that powers FaceID. This multi-disciplinary group of engineers is responsible for the architecture, design, validation and the development of these highly complex sensing systems for Apple products. This team is looking for a System Characterization and Validation Lead to be a part of the next advanced electro-optical technology development.

Key Qualifications

  • Team lead / management experience: 2-4 years
  • Deep understanding of optical systems (design considerations, tradeoffs and constraints)
  • Multidisciplinary background in an R&D organization as a System / Qualification / Algo / Characterization engineer : 3-5 years
  • Hands on experience with: Matlab and/or Python, lab automation and / or robots
  • Hands-on experience with lab optical setups , testing equipment and / or electro-optical components
  • Optical test equipment development in collaboration with vendors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (mainly English)
  • Proven team player and leadership skills

Description

Lead a team of experts as part of a unique R&D activity Develop and collaborate with global multidisciplinary R&D teams Characterize the performance envelope at each one of the following development phases: prototypes, through components, modules, and up to full system level Develop multidisciplinary testing fixtures: from requirements, through design, SW and Algo, and up to implementation and training Frequent travels are required , up to 25% of the time

Education & Experience

M.Sc./ PhD in Electro-Optics / System engineering / Physics / Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering
