Senior Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist
Apple’s Hardware Technology Silicon Engineering group is looking for a Senior Technical Writer/Documentation Specialist to support content and documentation development for multiple key programs. The role involves working with different engineering disciplines to develop highly technical and complex documentation for Apple chips integrated across Appleʼs entire product line.
Set up and publish internal technical specifications. *Support engineers in an XML authoring environment: Train engineers on authoring aspects, best practices, content reuse, tool usage, and development processes. *Convert content to XML, set document framework, build, debug, and publish specifications. *Close collaboration with the Technical Documentation team from different global sites and time zones. Be a site representative in the global documentation team forums. *Help define and enhance workflows, and standards, promote best practices, and content-reuse strategies, document authoring guidelines documentation and process improvements across multiple, simultaneous projects and systems. *Prepare and contribute to the author's training material and knowledge base (Confluence pages, slideware, and videos).
- 10+ years of technical documentation experience in computer hardware and/or semiconductor product documentation.
- Worked in the semiconductor industry with knowledge of silicon workflows and development processes.
- Experience in crafting documentation using XML tools, standards, and technologies (Structured FrameMaker, Oxygen Author/Editor, DocBook/DITA, XSLT, XPath, CSS, HTML).
- Experience with content development in a structured authoring environment.
- Familiar with content management, version control systems, and bug tracking tools (Perforce, Confluence, Jira, Git).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to convey and communicate authoring strategies, concepts, and guidelines to engineers.
- Excellent social and organizational skills.
- Independent, dedicated, strong initiative, and proactive.
- B.Sc. degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, technical communication and writing, or a related field.
- Experience as a team leader
- Programming skills, such as Python, Bash/Shell, Unix/Linux command line.
