Apple Media Products (AMP) first delighted users with downloadable music in April 2003 with the opening of the iTunes Store. Since then, AMP has delivered countless innovations around the digital delivery of audio and video, and in 2008 revolutionized smartphone app distribution with the launch of the App Store. Being the source for so much digital content requires maintaining relationships with a vast number of providers, from record labels to movie studios to app developers. The Digital Supply Chain Engineering team (DSCE) is tasked with ensuring that new content is uploaded, processed, cataloged, and available on our storefronts when the provider expects it to be top notch quality. AMP Media Workflow Engineering team is seeking a forward-thinking self-starter to join our team. AMP is an increasingly vital and central component of Apple’s ecosystem, and continues to rely heavily on processing of media at ever more massive scale, at a level of quality unmatched in the industry. Join us in building Apple’s platform for audio and video ingestion and processing at the heart of Apple TV+, and participate in the innovation that will drive the next generation of media features services at Apple. The Media Services team is seeking an expert engineer to contribute to the design and implementation of the tooling that manages the Apple Media Products ecosystem. Our team is responsible for the images and video content across all of Apple’s content stores, and provides the tools used by Apple and our partners worldwide to create compelling and insightful presentation of content for our end users. We collaborate closely across the entire Apple product ecosystem, supporting new technologies that surprise and delight our customers, while ensuring high quality content and efficient productivity applications for designers and creators, enabling them to express their ideas with our suite of tools.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in a professional programming position
- Experience leading engineering projects from inception to shipped software
- Enthusiasm for hands-on involvement in the teamʼs technical work
- A deep sense of responsibility and pride in the teamʼs engineering
- Experience with Java
- Experience with SQL and relational database systems
- Experience with NoSQL databases like Cassandra or MongoDB
- Prior team lead experience or management is a plus
- Have a belief in automation and tooling as a critical part of the software lifecycle
- Love the idea of ownership and delivering amazing products
- Experience with video and static media formats a plus
Apple Media Products Image Systems Team is looking for an Engineering Manager to create and evolve applications, pipelines, and infrastructure in order to support its fast paced growth. You will be leading a growing team of 3+ engineers where you will be responsible for business logic, core infrastructure, data pipelines, and media creation workflows. Our systems directly support customer facing features in Apple Music, Apple Books, Podcasts, and various other Apple media products. We build systems that facilitate the creation, scheduling, and publishing of editorial media for all of Apple’s platforms around the globe. We are looking for an engineer who is comfortable representing an engineering team in conversation with both other engineering teams who depend on your services as well as business and program leaders. You must be able to comfortable debating engineering and business priorities in cross-functional discussions. Direct software engineering experience is a must, and experience running or managing a team of engineers is a plus. Day to day responsibilities include leading design of system architecture, mentoring your engineering team, setting priorities, and presenting clearly with partner teams. Strong communication and the ability to meet expected deadlines and manage complexity are a must.
Education & Experience
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
