Silicon Prototyping Engineer

You will be a key member of the silicon design team responsible for ensuring that we deliver high-quality silicon to customers. You’ll ensure Apple products and services can seamlessly and efficiently handle the tasks that make them beloved by millions. Joining this team means you’ll be responsible for planning and building the silicon prototyping platform and executing tests to establish functional health of our ASICs. You will take place in the laboratory debug of failures with cross-functional teams (Silicon, Boards, Software, Manufacturing). We have a critical impact on getting high quality functional products to millions of customers quickly, and we are hiring all levels from junior to senior engineers to join our design team.
As a prototyping engineer you will be responsible for emulating a complex ASIC & are expected to:
- Work closely with the team, review specifications, develop prototyping plans and specifications.
- Work closely with design & micro-architecture teams to understand the functional & performance goals of the design.
- Work with firmware & driver development team in understanding & supporting their use-cases
- Work on Synthesis / Place & Route, timing optimization, develop plans for custom hardware.
- Work independently & manage deliverables to align with project goals plus support cross-functional engineering efforts.
- Develop and execute comprehensive validation plans for our custom silicon.
- Develop automation software and scripts for measurement data collection and analysis.
- Drive the debug and resolution of engineering issues between cross-functional teams.
- Experience in FPGA tool flows is a strong plus - Synthesis, Partitioning, Place & Route: ProtoCompiler, Synplify, Identify, Vivado, Quartus etc.
- Design with RTL coding in Verilog/SystemVerilog is a must.
- Advanced knowledge of CPU & SOC architecture/design.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrate the desire to take on diverse challenges.
- Good knowledge of validating system level designs based on embedded processors and peripherals such as SPI, I2C, UART,JTAG
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
- BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
- Understanding the SW side (Python, C/C++, embedded firmware development) is preferred.
- Hardware/System design, tools, debug, lab experience are a big plus.
