In this highly visible role, our Manufacturing Design Engineers (MDE) are responsible for the development and implementation of high precision mechanical fabrication processes in a high volume environment for Apple Mac Products.

Description

Apple MDEs are extraordinary engineers that provide end to end manufacturing and process solutions for key design features. This includes manufacturing process development and capability (includes incorporating all aspects of equipment, consumables, key parameters, process setup, and qualification), selection and/or design of manufacturing equipment, automation, and strategic R&D. - Develop multi-type metal components, plastic parts, CNC manufacturing, surface treatment, assembly or chemical treatment of Apple wearable products. - Mapping out process flow, selecting processing equipments, designing corresponding fixtures/slurries/wheels/sandpapers/magazines/trays, initiating DOEs to find out the best machine setups, cutter materials and coating process, mechanical polishing path and parameters, and finalizing the process solution from prototype stage to mass production stage. - Utilize machine learning knowledge into manufacturing design scope, optimize process and achieve predictive, adaptive capability. - Be deeply involving in working on multiple customized processes in the scope of: CNC, Polishing, PVD, Chemical treatment, Sand Blasting, Anodizing, Super clean, Laser etching, Automation etc. - Work cross functionally with Product Design Engineering to assess product features for manufacturability, and recommend capable production processes and equipment. - Work closely with US-based MDEs in the development of above said processes. - A heavy emphasis will be on working with suppliers to define and refine mechanical tooling and fixtures, and establishing process capability and readiness. - Coordination of activities and direction through clear communication between the Asia and US-based teams, and vendors is a necessity. Minimum Qualifications

  • Student of Bachelor or Master degree in material science, mechanical engineering, automation, manufacturing design areas.
  • Available to join internship for 6-12 months full-time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written (In both Chinese and English).

  • Great at problem solving, communication, familiar with GD&T, DOE, SPC
  • Strong multidisciplinary, technical background.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
  • On-site build support; willing to work from OEM factories.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and travel frequently (mainly in Asia).
  • A team player who is self-motivated, results oriented and detailed oriented.
  • Be a self-starter by defining all engineering tasks to meet project objectives and have the ability to quickly learn about new processes with limited information provided
