In this highly visible role, our Manufacturing Design Engineers (MDE) are responsible for the development and implementation of high precision mechanical fabrication processes in a high volume environment for Apple Audio and Home Products.

Description

Apple MDEs are extraordinary engineers that provide end to end manufacturing and process solutions for key design features. This includes manufacturing process development and capability (includes incorporating all aspects of equipment, consumables, key parameters, process setup, and qualification), selection and/or design of manufacturing equipment, automation, and strategic R&D. - Review multi-type metal components and plastic parts, assembly, CNC manufacturing of Apple Audio and Home products and figure out the improvement or optimization actions. - Work cross functionally with supply chain and vendors to assess product features for manufacturability, and recommend capable production processes and equipment optimization proposals. - A heavy emphasis will be on working with suppliers to define and refine mechanical tooling and fixtures, automation lines, and establishing process capability and readiness for power consumption and consumables saving etc. - Coordination of activities and direction through clear communication between the Asia and US-based teams, and vendors is a necessity. - Provide leadership at manufacturing sites during development and product production ramp, and drive engineering issues to resolution - Use data to drive process decisions, basic data analysis, DOEs, SPC, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Student of Bachelor or Master degree in Industry engineering, mechanical engineering, automation, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering areas.
  • Available to join internship for 3-6 months full-time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written (In both Chinese and English).
  • On-site build support, willing to work from factories.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and travel frequently (mainly in Asia).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good at data analysis, statistics skills.
  • Ability to learn, implement and use SPC, JMP, GD&T tool to make data driven decisions, and AIML knowledge is a plus.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills.
  • A team player who is self-motivated, results oriented and detailed oriented.
  • Be a self-starter by defining all engineering tasks to meet project objectives and have the ability to quickly learn about new processes with limited information provided
