Apple's Hardware Engineering organization is seeking a seasoned manager to drive environmental initiatives on the elimination of hazardous substances, biocompatibility of wearable devices, compliance to hazardous substances regulations, and adoption of safer materials. We will look up to your leadership skills to guide our team of toxicologists and program managers who specialize in evaluating the toxicological and regulatory impacts of materials and products. You will partner with design, engineering, and operations teams to enforce policies, execute test plans, conduct toxicological assessments, and drive selection of safer materials.

Key Qualifications

  • Five years experience leading initiatives to eliminate hazardous substances, including biocompatibility
  • Technical understanding of dermal toxicology and biocompatibility assessments; toxicology background preferred
  • Familiarity with regulations on hazardous substances and biocompatibility standards
  • Comfortable in environments that depend on influence to drive outcomes
  • Superb communication and presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences

Description

This position is offered in Apple's Environmental Technologies group within our Hardware Engineering division. Our mission is to deliver world-leading programs to address the impacts of climate change, conserve resources, and utilize safer materials in our products. In this role, we will rely on your collaboration, influence, and leadership to ensure the safety of materials used in products. - You will be responsible for overseeing Apple’s policies on hazardous substances, developing and executing test plans, and conducting toxicological and safety assessments, and evaluating safer alternatives. We will be looking to you to positively influence cross-functional partners to design with these factors in mind. - You’re comfortable diving into technical details with toxicologists and engineers, and distilling this information into concise messages for executives. - You don’t hesitate to build up relationships with cross-functional partners and collaborate well across functions. - You are a master of tracking details, deliverables and schedules. - You will be a strong proponent for environmental leadership, and see it as your mission to ensure customers are safe. - Finally, you are top-tier manager who believes in unleashing the potential of your team.

Education & Experience

Graduate degrees in toxicology, biology, materials science, chemistry or fields related to material health or safety are preferred
