Our Internet Services & Operations (ISO) group, is seeking an Engineering Technical Project Manager for our Service Reliability Engineering (SRE) group. The group supports multi-functional technology projects throughout the Apple organization, this includes: iCloud, Apple Media Products, Maps, Messaging Services and other Internet back- end server applications. The SRE team is responsible for service infrastructure that ensures our customers’ perfect experience. You are a successful project manager that thrives in a dynamic and complex environment. You will partner with the SRE team to define, prioritize, plan, and deliver the project portfolio of technical, infrastructure, and system needs that make Apple, Apple. The projects range from deploying end to end infrastructure environments, hardware deployments, decommissions, complex system changes, tech refreshes, data migrations, service outage remediation, CapEx planning, as well as continually striving to scale and mature operations and operational standard methodologies. The position requires a standout colleague and an accountable self-starter willing to lead multi-functional projects. You can marshal resources from a matrix functional group to get things done. You use resources effectively and authoritatively. The role requires the ability to clearly assign responsibility for tasks, decisions and to monitor process and progress to deliver results. The project manager needs to act as a business analyst on applicable domains and analyzing business needs and requirements. You will be participating and representing as required in problem solving. Our Engineering Project Managers need to engage on budget, fleet planning and perform data analysis to drive key decisions for the project.
- Extraordinary organizational, project management, and technical acumen.
- Prior engineering, infrastructure, or software development project management experience for Site Reliability Engineering / DevOps preferred.
- Some knowledge of Infrastructure preferred
- Experience at prioritizing features, and technical road map
- Proficiency and experience in delivering project.
- Self-motivated and enthusiastic with shown creative and critical thinking capabilities
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written presentation skills to represent at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to lead simultaneous end to end infrastructure, technical projects and partner community comprising of engineering, datacenter teams, network, hardware and supply chain.
- Experience at end to end project delivery; building roadmaps through to operational sustainability.
You will lead SRE-centric efforts across independent functional teams comprised of software development, systems engineering, network, storage, tooling, monitoring, IS, finance & capacity teams. You are able to persistently remove ambiguity and seek to reduce complexity to ensure clarity around project goals, expectations and timelines. This position requires you to develop a broad interpersonal perspective to facilitate strategic views around new projects and be able to facilitate discussions focusing on prioritization of existing projects. You will build and maintain extensive work plans, detailing complex technical projects in a dynamic engineering environment. You will Run and maintain incident response reports as well as driving post-mortems. You will prove your ability to handle deadlines and meet financial, capacity and personnel constraints while successfully completing your projects on time!
Education & Experience
PMP or equivalent project management certification Knowledge of Agile, Kanban development process 3+ years’ work experience as a project manager in a software development, IT or Infrastructure operations environment. Some software development experience.
