The Technical Program Manager will lead a team of Process, Test, DFM, and Quality Engineers in the development of core technologies that create new experiences for our customers. You will act as a link between Apple Design and suppliers’ manufacturing team, serving as the operations technical lead during all engineering builds as well as ramp, providing a single technical voice to product project teams.

Key Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with design / manufacturing process development
  • Strong inductive charging design experience: Knowledgeable on design guidelines and principles of induction, as well as parameters that influence product performance and/or quality.
  • Excellent project management skills, working in a matrix organization
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturability assessments, tolerance stack-ups, FMEA, GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerances) and metrology techniques
  • Statistical process control, FMEA. Six Sigma knowhow is highly desirable
  • Expertise in connector design and manufacturing with emphasis in at least three of these categories:
  • Assembly operations: both automatic and manual
  • Automation development: precision pick and place, station transfer, automated optical inspection, or equivalent
  • Fixture design, development, and qualification
  • Coil winding: single or multi-spindle winding of copper wire coils with or without inner bobbin
  • Joining processes: Laser welding, laser soldering, hot bar soldering, gluing, adhesive films Post processes such as surface finish, de-burr, heat treat, SIM, and plating
  • Mechanical and electrical testing including fixtures
  • 5S, Lean Manufacturing
  • Proven track record of leading a multi-functional team in order to achieve new product objectives inclusive of quality, yield, and cost
  • Experience working with international OEM partners
  • Self-starter with innovation, integrity, and attention to details
  • Direct experience leading a functional engineering team is a plus
  • Factory operations experience is a plus
  • Ability to travel internationally 30-40%

Description

TPMs are ultimately responsible for the on-time implementation of high-quality, high-throughput manufacturing lines. You will engage with Apple Design and Program Management teams throughout all stages of NPI, providing continuous feedback based on operations strategy, manufacturing partners capability, process and equipment development, as well as manufacturability of the design. Core Technology Focus Area: Inductive technology to support wireless charging capability of mobile devices •Provide feedback on design manufacturability, equipment setup, and qualification to support prototype builds. •Work with suppliers to develop fixtures to ensure correct assembly and evaluate product performance for parts off the line •Lead process, equipment and/or design trials to optimize the overall process for high-volume mass production •Technical lead for manufacturing operations at multiple vendors and sites •Partner closely with Engineering teams as well as collaborate with the various Operational Program teams to identify, prioritize, and manage key technical risks in order to enable success of the new product introduction. •Act as technical lead in resolving complex issues, including reporting on status to engineering and operations leadership teams •Ensure that all technical risks associated with a product are identified and closed or mitigated to enable the quality ramp of a product. •Production process documentation and validation to enable ramp-up and mass production

Education & Experience

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Materials Science & Engineering, MS or higher preferred.
