The AppleCare Service Quality Engineering team is seeking a motivated Flat Panel Display Supplier Quality Engineer to support the TFT and OLED displays from product release through EOL. In this role you will cover various aspects of technical support and quality management to ensure world-class customer service parts and processes. Key activities are: LCD screening/repair process definition, diagnostics development, detailed failure analysis, and quality metrics monitoring and management. You are expected to be a self-motivated member of a dynamic team, to work well under pressure, and to be an inventive, critical thinker. You also have an uncanny ability to effectively prioritize time and projects. Travel: Typical 20%, up to 30%.
- 5 – 7 years of relevant experience in plat panel displays or semiconductor industry
- Proficient English language skills with excellent written and verbal communication capability.
- Demonstrated ability to perform process DOE, SPC and failure analysis.
- Previous experience in Engineering/Quality auditing of supplier and site locations.
- Broad operations/supply chain management experience
- High level of personal and professional integrity
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of flexibility
- Nice to have: Lean Sigma, ASQ certification, DFM experience, Chinese language skills, Korean language skills
Activities / responsibilities include: - Monitor new product introductions to ensure emerging field issues with these commodities are collected and addressed. Also monitor service returns rates to ensure the modules used to repair customer systems meets goal. - Use statistical data analysis techniques to review these datasets, identify key issues, and drive systemic improvements back to Design Engineering, Operations, and ultimately to the original vendors. - Perform analysis and identify trends in the inspection of field returns. Drive improvement and corrective actions when necessary. - Develop, evaluate, revise, and apply quality assurance protocols/methods in inspection and testing of service parts. - Ensure that established inspection, testing and process control procedures are deployed and followed at all supplier sites. - Partner with internal teams to drive suppliers to establish their optimized process flow and robust service infrastructure. - Work with suppliers to ensure quality assurance and warranty support for their products. - Help and guide the suppliers to meet their metrics by close collaboration, regular audits, and cross-functional support. - Work closely with internal display teams and external industrial partners worldwide to create sustainable service processes for displays. - Create, document, and audit display screening and repair process. - Develop new processes and technologies for the reclamation and repair of displays. - Ensure activities are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations. - Assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO regulations. - Prepare effective presentations to escalate top issues to management to drive change. - Above all, be an advocate for the customer, making sure that their needs are represented across all divisions of the company.
Education & Experience
Four year technical degree required. (EE, ME, or related technical field), MS degree preferred.
