Key Qualifications

  • You have 3+ years experience in full-stack application design and software development in a commercial setting
  • You possess 2+ years developing server-side software in Java or C++
  • You have a strong track record of API and framework design
  • You are experienced with JavaScript frameworks, e.g. React, Angular
  • You also have working knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem
  • You have excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • You are a great communicator and have the ability to work closely with others


The Maps Data team owns the platform and systems to represent a wide variety of map features for the entire globe, as well as the tools to efficiently visualize and curate the many sources of geospatial data that powers Apple Maps. In this role, you’ll develop a platform and applications for managing/enhancing/analyzing the data, with a focus on workflow tools, visualization, usability, scale, and flexibility. We have a fast-moving environment with high expectations to rapidly improve our applications to create the best maps experience for our customers. You will contribute to applications to enable us to produce high quality data that delights our customers.

Education & Experience

- BS in computer science, or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • Nice-to-have
  • - Experience with web application frameworks such as Play, Grails
  • - Familiar with data management concepts, such as OLAP cubes, dimensions, and materialized views
  • - Familiar with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Datameer, Trifacta
  • - Fluency in geospatial domain
