When will rush hour start? How long will it take for traffic to clear up? How is my optimal route changed because of a nearby ball-game? Have you ever asked yourself these questions and thought about how to answer them? We are the traffic team at Apple and we are looking to hire a Data Engineering intern to help answer questions like these. Our team's main mission is to measure and predict speeds for every road globally in real time. These speed values heavily influence Routing and ETAs, as well as traffic display on the map. Your work will impact millions of people’s lives every single day.
- Strong Java, Scala, and/or C++coding skills
- Current knowledge of the latest methods for building scalable data pipelines, preferably with Spark or Hadoop
- Hands on exposure in working with very large amounts of data to improve and optimize decision support technologies
- Have knowledge of using cutting-edge methodologies in the data warehousing, decision support, or data analysis space
- Possess a real passion for innovation and have a knack for seeing around corners
Our team drives the designs, crafts the solutions, and evaluates the systems that expertly process massive streams of location data. As an intern on our team, you will help to make substantial contributions towards the quality of our traffic offering, ultimately improving the travel of millions of users each and every single day. You will be working with a team of engineers, data scientists, and traffic experts to build and innovate the platforms which drive data exploration, model creation and experimentation, and production models. Our engineers are reciprocal across team boundaries and are very passionate about driving their ideas and projects to completion. This internship will provide you with an opportunity for you to use your knowledge, and really make a positive impact on the personal lives of millions!
Education & Experience
