Bring passion and dedication to your job and there's no telling what you could accomplish. The Maps Evaluation team is seeking a Summer 2019 Data Science intern to join the Apple Maps team. We are a multi-functional group of Data Scientists and subject matter experts focusing on the evaluation of Maps services and features. Our group works directly with the engineering teams responsible for search, routing, recommendation and other algorithms, and tackles many types of problems, including design of experiments, AB testing, exploratory data analysis, machine learning and data mining. Come help with hands-on work in a small innovative team and you will be part of building the next big thing!
- Experience with big data using technologies like Hadoop, Hive, and Spark Experience with Scala/Java
- Experience with data analysis and visualization
- Experience with statistical programming (e.g., R, Python) and database languages (e.g., SQL)
- Experience with large scale machine learning algorithms
- Some knowledge of information retrieval and/or the mapping/transportation industry is helpful
- Experience with AB testing is helpful
You will work along senior engineers to craft insightful metrics and design effective experiments to identify successful, and unsuccessful Maps features. You will mine a large volume of data to derive actionable insights for product improvements and automate these systems in a replicable and scalable way. A successful intern candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate findings to engineering partners, product management teams across Apple. Education & Experience
Pursuing a MS or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research, or similar are preferred.
