As a key member of the thin film R&D team, work internally and externally with industry partners to develop a PVD process to meet our strict material requirements. This position will involve all aspects of process, test, and validation of advanced materials.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in thin-film PVD deposition and materials characterization
  • Data rigor: experience in DOE, statistical analysis methods and software platforms such as JMP
  • Experience with hardware and equipment development to drive process development and continuous improvement
  • Work directly with outside parties and vendors to communicate and execute experiments. Make data-driven decisions based on experiments
  • History of effectively organizing, planning and executing process engineering experiments from start to finish
  • Functional and theoretical understanding of physical structure and stoichiometry of PVD-deposited thin films
  • Familiarity with first principles characterization and FA techniques
  • Statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (DOE, ANOVA, FMEA, RCA, etc.)
  • Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good communication, presentation and partnership skills are essential

Description

Run DOEs to optimize performance on key figures of merit Design and communicate instructions to technicians and fellow engineers to execute DOEs Drive hardware upgrades and improvements to develop process Compare process development against baseline performance in a data-driven and statistically significant manner Optimize layer interfaces to upstream and downstream processes Analyze electrical test data to feed into process improvements Perform hardware characterization on multiple toolsets

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field, M.S. preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Travel to suppliers and manufacturing facilities expected
