We are looking for a strong generalist with a mobile or computer systems background, an understanding of both hardware and software, and the ability to weigh trade-offs between the different disciplines involved in the system. This position requires strong communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills. In this role you will be a key member of the power/performance/thermal controls architecture team acting as the technical lead for managing, constraining and controlling the power demand of Apple products.

Key Qualifications

  • 15+ years experience, including a minimum of 10 years in system-level design and architecture
  • Highly talented and motivated to work on large and complex systems
  • Ability to work independently in an unstructured environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven collaboration and leadership skills
  • Broad range of experience including a majority of the following domains:
  • Firmware, OS kernel, OS framework and application software
  • Power conversion, power delivery and power delivery networks
  • SoC silicon architecture and design
  • Displays, cameras, speakers, haptics
  • Control systems
  • Battery technology


The Lead Power Control Architect will have broad scope and responsibilities: Work with multiple subsystem teams to understand the feature-specific relationship between power consumption and user experience Develop and propose system policies to deliver the best possible user experience in the presence of both static and dynamic system constraints Architect a comprehensive, system-level solution to implement these policies utilizing all appropriate technologies afforded by software, silicon, and system Work with the software, silicon, system and test teams to refine the architecture to mesh well with existing practices and technologies Architect these solutions to span multiple product families Communicate architecture, multi-year implementation plans and status upwards to executive management Lead a small team in support of this charter

Education & Experience

MS/PhD in Computer Science or Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalent
