Key Qualifications

  • 3+ Years packaging industry experience
  • Materials: Paper, corrugate, bio-based materials, various cushioning materials
  • Fixture Design: Fabrication, Surface Finishing, Assembly
  • Fabrication: Forming, Injection Molding, Materials, Machining, Laser Processing, Cleaning
  • Surface Finishing: Printing & Ink
  • Assembly: Gluing, Welding, Multi-Part Assembly
  • Design: Industrial and Product Design exposure / experience
  • Quality: Metrology, QA systems, Data analysis
  • Commercial: Supply chain experience, Tooling and equipment purchases, negotiating development agreements
  • Manufacturing: NPI, Experience in Asia, High volume, consistent track record of scalable manufacturing solutions


The Packaging Innovation team creates, engineers and scales new technology for Apple's product packaging. We work cross functionally with the world's best designers and operations team with the ultimate goal of enabling a world-class unboxing experience for our customers. The role requires blending of skills in manufacturing, design and business. You will be primarily focused on looking at new or incredibly challenging processes or materials Apple has never used before to either achieve improved customer experience and/or an extraordinary environmental solution. Responsibilities Include: Creation of the manufacturing process from raw material to final package • You'll research new materials and technologies and identify ideal suppliers we should work with • Lead the R&D efforts in material or technology development and create initial prototypes for review with design team • Establish tooling / equipment requirements to allow technology to be scaled for production • Establish initial process and other key cost drivers Supplier technical assessments • You will own projects from initial concepts through hand off for mass production to Operations team • You will work closely with suppliers, leading them in various trials to perfect the process until scalability, cosmetics and engineering requirements established • Possess tenacity and curious attitude to solving seemingly impossible problems

Education & Experience

BSME or equivalent with MSME desirable
