Key Qualifications

  • You will ideally have an MS or Ph.D. with more than 5 years experience
  • Background in CPU architecture and micro-architecture
  • Background in security threat assessment
  • Working knowledge of applied cryptography
  • Ability and motivation to develop working understanding of different software areas including but not limited to OS internals, compiler technologies, and JIT/Javascript.
  • Proficient in C and C++
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as Perl, Python and Ruby
  • Ability to problem solve and prove your own ideas

Description

Apple’s Platform Architecture group architects high performance, high efficiency CPUs that power iPhone and iPad. We are looking for a Security Architect with strong experience in CPU micro-architecture to collaborate with SoC and software teams on both hardware and software security strategies. Your job responsibilities will include: - Collaborate with micro-architecture, architecture, and software teams to assess security risk for existing and new CPU performance and efficiency features - Develop proof-of-concept (PoC) for potential vulnerabilities - Propose mitigation strategies for potential security issues that could include ISA, micro-architecture, and software changes - Work with CPU, security, and software teams to assess robustness for proposed mitigations - Work with CPU architecture and design teams to assess power, area, and performance cost for proposed mitigations - Work with internal security experts across Apple on the evaluation of system vulnerabilities and deployment of mitigation strategies - Engage with external community to influence research direction

Education & Experience

MS or Ph.D preferred
