You will brainstorm, design, develop and characterize metrology equipment used to calibrate and test Apple’s new groundbreaking technology and products. You will work collaboratively with a creative and diverse team of experienced engineers from all disciplines including instrumentation, core technology, product design and operations teams developing state of the art measurement systems for Apple.

Key Qualifications

  • Engineering background (Electrical / Software / Mechatronics)
  • Excellent spoken and written English language communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of software used in Automation (experience with Beckhoff, Omron, Siemens, Bosch, and others)
  • Understanding of servo, stepper, and pneumatic control techniques and implementation
  • Understanding of cabling and power distribution for industrial equipment
  • Experience with safety circuits (Emergency Stop, EMO, light curtains, interlocks)
  • Knowledge of industrial interface protocols TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, ModbusTCP, DeviceNet, Profibus, CANopen, etc
  • Familiar with handshaking techniques for material and/or data transfer between automated industrial equipment
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for full lifecycle from project inception through testing, installation, and support in a manufacturing environment
  • PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • High volume electronics manufacturing equipment controls system design
  • Proficiency in PLC programming with IEC 61131-3 structured text language
  • Experience with TwinCAT2 and TwinCAT3 is a plus
  • Safety Engineering to ISO 13849-1 and IEC 60204-1
  • Circuit design and PCB development is a plus
  • Project and product management experience strongly preferred
  • Mandarin written and spoken language a plus but not required

Description

- System level design and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment which requires in-depth understanding of software, automation hardware including motorized and pneumatic actuators, and safety of equipment - Communicate effectively with many roles at Apple via phone, email, teleconference - Create software and hardware requirements specifications, design architecture and assembly documents, test scenarios, operator instructions - Participate in projects to improve/enhance existing 3rd party factory equipment - Create and review wiring diagrams, schematics, and cable assembly drawings - Manage the building of system cables, wiring of electrical cabinets - Select and source sensors, motorized and pneumatic actuators, components and interface with suppliers and vendors - Provide technical support to software engineering team - Requires up to 50% travel within China and occasional international travel to support equipment design, deployment, and validation

Education & Experience

BS/MS EE, ECE, Mechanical Engineering
