Human Interface Device's Incubation Software team is responsible for delivering prototype applications, platforms and tools related to Apple input and sensing technologies. This includes Multitouch, TouchID, 3D and Force Touch, Motion and Light sensors, and everything in between. We work closely with Hardware, Algorithm, Firmware, Application, and Design teams across the company to build user experience prototypes relating to existing and brand new input and sensing technologies.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience developing complete applications for iOS or macOS
  • Very strong C or Objective-C or Swift programming skills
  • Very strong UI/UX design taste
  • Ability to rapidly sketch out and mock up proposed user experiences and interactions
  • Ability to quickly learn new development environments and APIs
  • Ability to investigate multiple optional avenues of solutions to swiftly achieve results
  • Comfortable with speedy context switching among several projects
  • Excellent debugging and problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be self directed, analytical, and work well in a team environment


We are looking for someone who is passionate about crafting, building or augmenting applications and prototypes using new input and sensing technologies under development. In this role, you will be responsible for building software that works with a wide variety of devices over multiple transport protocols running on the iOS, macOS, and watchOS platforms. This takes form as often emulating or demonstrating the core user experience for future products, or developing software platforms with easy to use APIs for designers, or creating software to control new proprietary hardware systems. You will need to be able to context switch often between multiple projects that vary in size, scope and sensitivity. You will curate and cultivate relationships within an eclectic group of other engineering and design teams. An ideal candidate will need to be self motivated, and adaptive to learning new technologies.

Education & Experience

BS/MS in CS/CE (or equivalent)

Additional Requirements

  • Experience working with sensor data (e.g. from motion, touch, light, or proximity sensors) is a strong plus
  • Experience with USB and Bluetooth devices is a strong plus
  • Experience working with basic networking APIs is a plus
  • Familiarity with IOKit, UIKit, or AppKit is a plus
