The Mac system performance and architecture team is responsible for all aspects of Mac performance spanning hardware (CPU, GPU, DRAM, storage), software (OS, drivers, application), and system characteristics (thermals, power). The team is responsible for performance modeling, guiding architecture tradeoffs, performance verification, performance debug and test development. We are looking for performance modelers who can help create the next generation of Mac system performance models. This role will entail:

Key Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of computer architecture
  • Good coding skills in C (or C++), Perl / Python
  • Prior experience in system performance modeling is desired
  • Prior experience in analyzing thermal, acoustics, power aspects of performance is a plus
  • Strong communication skills

Description

Interacting with various cross-functional teams to develop a deep understanding of software and hardware interactions across all Mac platforms Distilling key system interactions and abstracting them in a performance model Validating the accuracy of the performance model Analyzing model miscorrelations and continually improve the model Guiding architecture tradeoff decisions using the model Generating performance projections for future systems Improving existing model infrastructure and bringing up new capabilities for scalable and extensible performance modeling work

Education & Experience

BS/BE in EE, CS (or similar fields) required MS/PhD preferred
