Apple’s Developer Tools team builds Xcode and other tools used every day by millions of developers to create applications for iPhone, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and the Mac. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated engineer to develop application and web-based tools and techniques to improve these key technologies, and help understand, triage, and drive resolution of issues found by Apple’s developers and internal teams.

Key Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years software industry experience, or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, shell, Ruby, PHP, JavaScript
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated
  • Proven excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work smoothly with rapidly changing situations and requirements, and with a range of other teams
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of UNIX and macOS

Apple’s Developer Tools team is at the intersection of many diverse groups at Apple — we collaborate with hardware and software teams in a fast-paced, cooperative environment to deliver development tools that bring our users’ ideas to life. As a member of the team, you will be at the forefront of rapidly changing technologies like Xcode, Swift, and all of Apple’s operating systems, and will expand your engineering experience of how software is constructed on a large scale. Our work is meaningful so it's important that you use your eye for quality and attention to detail to analyze internal data and customer feedback to gather a product-level understanding of the state of our software throughout its development, and after release. Responsibilities: • Present data in a rich and usable manner to improve decision-making about product development • Investigate and triage product-level issues involving combinations of Apple’s development tools and OS products daily • Communicate with other team members and groups to oversee work, provide status, and resolve problems • Track upcoming development tools and operating systems changes, to resolve problems and head off future issues

Education & Experience

B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements

  • • Development experience with macOS, iOS, or other Apple products
  • • Web development, data presentation on a large scale
  • • Experience with UNIX source control systems such as svn or git
  • • Understanding of problem isolation, testing methodologies, and debugging
  • • Experience with object oriented programming languages
  • • Product development experience, in the areas of quality engineering, build engineering, or project management
