Apple is seeking a Data Qualification Engineer to join the video streaming technology team in the Interactive Media Group (IMG). IMG provides the media and graphics foundation across all of Apple's innovative products, including iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, iPod, and Macs.

Key Qualifications

  • Proficiency in shell scripting: Python, Ruby or similar languages
  • Knowledge of Streaming Technology (HLS)
  • Experience writing automated tests
  • Experience in analyzing large data sets
  • Knowledge with networking (QoS, packet traces)
  • Backend systems testing (REST APIs, Databases)
  • Data analytics QA
  • Concepts with databases
  • Concepts in web development (html, xml, css, javascript, php)
  • Programming knowledge in C/Objective-C and/or Machine Learning
  • Splunk or OLAP tool experience
  • Big Data knowledge and experience (Hadoop, MapReduce)

Description

We are looking for an exceptional software quality engineer or data scientist who has experience in streaming technology (HLS, HDS, or Smooth Streaming), network QoS, backend testing (databases), and also has worked with qualifying and analyzing incoming datasets. In this role, you will work very closely with the development team and multi-functional teams to ensure data quality is of the highest level. Your focus will span in areas that involve: - Qualification of data metric accuracy - Automation of pre-defined test scenarios on iOS/tvOS/macOS in the media streaming space - Analysis of data crafted from test cases for accuracy, completeness, and usability - Analysis of field data to determine issues - Qualifying and ensuring accuracy of data derived from Big Data. - Modifying unit tests for data reporting frameworks - Verifying and testing Web UI for correct data

Education & Experience

Bachelors in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Data Science or equivalent
