Apple Information Security (AIS) team is responsible for developing services to lead and mitigate security risks faced by Apple. We are seeking an extraordinary engineer skilled in writing tools, services, and frameworks to elevate the quality and reliability of our offerings. A successful candidate will design and code software responsible for determining, monitoring and fixing the quality, reliability, and efficiency of critical security infrastructure and services. The candidate will deliver innovative solutions for nagging problems.

Key Qualifications

  • Expertise with traditional languages like Java, JavaScript, and Python as well as modern ones like Node.js, React, and Scala
  • Highly skilled in the design and development of scalable web applications and services, with deep knowledge of typical infrastructure, databases, and networking — the full stack
  • Highly skilled in cloud technologies such as AWS or GCP, container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, Microservices, and deploying them at web scale
  • Expertise with both building and using log aggregation and distributed monitoring tools (Splunk, Elastic Stack, etc.)
  • Monitoring and instrumentation of both engineering and operational excellence metrics with dashboard technology such as Grafana
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the capability of working with cross functional technical and business teams and varying levels of management
  • Experience implementing and working with open source projects
  • Experience establishing deployment processes and building CI/CD tools
  • A good sense for what SLAs are appropriate and how to enforce them
  • Experience with Agile development, and establishing and tracking criteria for Definitions of Done
  • Recognize that defects and incidents are a precious opportunity to improve, and put processes and tools in place to drive those improvements
  • Drive pervasive automation across all phases of software development and release
  • Evangelize engineering hygiene and best practices across the organization
  • Strong project management skills, including excellent presentation development

Description

We build tooling and frameworks required to enable engineering and operational excellence across requirements, design, development, deployment, and production. - Partner with security teams and program management to build production readiness metrics, and build automated analytics dashboards - Build tools to enable engineering best practices - Dynamically build test environments on the cloud and frameworks that leverage them - Enable automated CI/CD pipelines for our various offerings - Create tools to enable and measure resiliency in our software

Education & Experience

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent experience
