The Display Technologies team in Apple’s Interactive Media Group (IMG) is redefining computer graphics and display technologies creating industry leading solutions such as: Retina, Wide Gamut, Enhanced Dynamic Range, Dynamic Adaptation, and True Tone. The team develops digital image processing algorithms driven by embedded sensor data to implement state of the art perceptual models that adapt the user’s display to match their perception. We help define and develop iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and all Macs. We are looking for candidates with strong engineering and mathematical intuition who are excited to solve new problems, and have the diligence to tune results to high precision.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong software development skills in C++
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Comfort with floating point math, linear algebra, and matrices
  • Passion for learning new concepts and technologies
  • Understanding of color science, and human perception
  • Familiarity with signal processing, sampling, quantization
  • Experience coding GPU shaders (especially using Metal)
  • Computer graphics
  • Multi-threaded asynchronous and real-time programming
  • Control theory


We design algorithms and software systems that dynamically model the user’s perception based on sensor input and knowledge of the media being rendered to control image processing such that content is mapped into the user’s adapted vision and always appears correct and consistent.

Education & Experience

Technical MS or higher preferred Computer Science or equivalent preferred
