Siri’s universal search engine powers search features across a variety of Apple products, including Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, and News. The Search Data Platform team acts as the “source of truth” for our most fundamental data — such as search activity and content — as well as our core metrics across a variety of products. We enable continuous improvement of the search system by building tools for data-driven decision-making and rapid iteration. As a Senior Data Analyst in the Insights group, you will own the definition of our product logging schema and design of the related data model. You will be one of the key partners for product managers and business leaders, understanding their business needs in order to inform our product and strategy decisions. You will collaborate with multi-functional teams to define our data model from logging to schemas of widely used tables. You will define metrics as well as the reporting and dashboarding needs. You will ensure the quality of the data we produce. REQUIREMENTS

Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Data Analyst role
  • Experience translating business needs into requirements for data logging and data schemas
  • Ability to work cross functionally with EPM, Software Engineers, Data Engineers and QA Engineers
  • Ability to analyze business processes, standard methodologies, data life cycles, and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity; fluency in SQL/HQL
  • Excellent statistical analysis and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail and dedication to high-quality, results-oriented output
  • Phenomenal interpersonal skills required
  • Familiarity with one of the following languages: Python, Go, Java, C++
  • Experience with large scale search systems is a plus
  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Impala, and/or Tableau is a plus


- Own and maintain the data model, including crafting implementation requirements, writing documentation, developing a data quality metrics framework - Work crossi-functionally to gain business needs and translate them into derived and raw log formats and inspire changes for existing or new features - Understand logging and how it impacts our system end-to-end, architect logging standard methodologies where needed, propose ways to simplify and improve logging - Design the architecture and schemas for the tables and be the technical lead for crafting it to be extendable, testable, maintainable and debuggable - Understand and consider the business implications of data, and communicate with impacted groups as necessary - Be a champion of data hygiene, lead by example on data quality and encourage everyone to do the same

Education & Experience

BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
