By crafting these distinct, holistic user experiences, you’ll continue to uphold and advance the excellence people expect from Apple devices.   The Mac Platform team within Apple's Core OS organization is looking for a talented and inspired manager that understands Hardware to lead our Software team. This team is responsible in all phases of Software delivery of Mac based products, from silicon conception until ramp to mass production. You will work with the SoC design team to help define features of new silicon, be responsible for the secure boot architecture and delivery. This includes bring-up of all new Silicon (ARM and Intel) and Platform features for the Mac on Simulation, Emulation and Silicon on the development hardware, the development of new technologies and the leadership of cross-functional debug across silicon, hardware and software teams. This is a highly cross-functional and visible role, and you will be directly involved in decisions that affect every future Mac System. The position requires a very technical and hands-on leader, experience in working closely with silicon and hardware teams, and a deep understanding of bare metal software. You must be a highly self-motivated individual who creates a dynamic and creative team environment in which problems are solved in new and innovative ways.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience leading a software development team
  • Direct experience in boot loader development, device driver development, kernel, and firmware software technologies.
  • Understanding of SoC level design
  • Evidence of driving technical innovation
  • Strong communication skills


Leadership and management of a team of talented software engineers in a fast-paced and demanding software development environment. Working closely with the hardware and silicon teams to bring-up new platforms, products, and prototype systems. Defining the software roadmap to support a range of hardware platforms. Lead the team’s assistance in requirements for future hardware and custom silicon. Identifying and vocalizing risks areas during silicon and technology development. Promoting a team culture that encourages innovation and sets high standards for quality and productivity. Strengthening the team by hiring and retaining top-tier engineering talent.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Masters degree in computer science or related field
