Data is a pivotal piece to the success of Siri. From how we decide upon new features to understanding our customer experience, it’s crucial that the infrastructure that supports these efforts is rock solid and scalable. As the Head of Siri Data Infrastructure, you will be responsible for managing and building out a team of highly qualified individuals to support the Siri business. The ideal candidate will have a passion for big data, setting prioritization and building strong teams. This role is responsible for data ingestion, backend services, data interfaces/tooling, privacy development and enforcement, and the overall running of these services.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years managing a software development engineering team
  • Industry experience with data infrastructure at large scale companies
  • Able to provide regular updates to organizational groups as well as VP level management
  • Drive multiple priorities across numerous teams to support project efforts
  • Experience in system design/architecture and implementation
  • Strong understanding of big data platforms and methodologies of data consumption

Description

The Siri Data Infrastructure team has the ownership of building a state of the art platform to protect sensitive data as well as provide the appropriate interfaces to our scalable infrastructure for the data consumers outside of the team. The work executed by this team will not only enable the Siri product to progress in the right areas but also enforce Apple’s values around privacy. A successful candidate will have experience in system design and architecture as well as a strong ability to manage a team with similar skill sets. Be involved in the design and architecture for our big data solutions Hire strong leaders to support ingestion, tools/interfaces, backend services, and privacy Grow the organization to support the needs of the business based on priorities Define metrics and alerting mechanisms to measure success/failure Partner with consumer teams to understand business requirements Utilize machine learning techniques to adapt to usage patterns of our systems

Education & Experience

B.S. degree in Computer Science and 3+ years of experience or equivalent.

Additional Requirements

  • Knowledge of core Linux fundamentals
  • Scripting skills (Python, Bash, Ruby, etc.)
  • Experience with compute containerization (i.e. - Mesos, Docker, schedulers)
