The Apple Health Software team is seeking an Automation Engineer to help ensure that our Health-related applications are high quality and user-focused. We're looking for critical thinkers who would like to play a key role in qualifying iOS and watchOS applications and the frameworks that support them. We are responsible for all Health related features on watchOS like ECG, Cycle Tracking, Hearing Health and HealthKit. On the iPhone, we are responsible for HealthKit and the Health App which encompasses numerous features including Clinical Health Records. Key Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in developing automation and frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python, Perl and/or shell scripting
  • Experience with device automation, including developing, triaging, and maintaining tests
  • Familiarity with iOS, macOS, Unix, and Xcode
  • Passion for quality and desire to push forward Apple's product quality through deeply technical UI and low-level automation
  • Creative and critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills to investigate and debug difficult issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to facilitate close interaction with development teams, management, and other organizations within Apple
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work accordingly


We are looking for an outstanding engineer with strong programming fundamentals and prior experience developing automation and the related frameworks. In this role, you will be responsible for developing automation frameworks and tests for all HealthKit infrastructure on Apple Watch and iPhone. Attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced and growing environment are essential skillsets. Your responsibilities will include developing plans to automatically triage the automation results by developing complex parsers for evaluating test results. You will develop, maintain and execute a plan for automated tests across a variety of HealthKit framework to ensure the highest quality of Health Software before it reaches our customers. You will also be responsible for the development of methodical testing strategies, creating & tracking high-quality​ bug reports, and reporting on the project progress & risk analysis. You will work very closely with the Health Software development, project management, and cross-functional QA teams to ensure great quality for our software.

Education & Experience

BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in databases like SQLite
  • Familiarity with​ Apple Health features is a plus
