Camera & Photos QA Software Engineer
Santa Clara Valley (Cupertino), California, United States
Software and Services
The Camera & Photos team focuses on user-experience by leveraging computer vision and image processing through machine learning. Our seamless integration of software and hardware has led to features like Memories, which delivers experiences that are magical. Our team works hard on products that ship to millions of people. We are looking for people who want to do the same. One of the defining characteristics of the Memories feature in the Photos app is the soundtrack that accompanies the movies that are automagically generated from users libraries based on our media mining technologies. The Photos Intelligence QA Team is looking for a QA Tools and Automation Engineer with a background in, and passion for, not only photography, but for audio as well. Attention to detail and the drive to contribute to the creation of the deeply personal user experiences we deliver through our efforts in data mining, personalization and audio processing are essential for successful integration into our tight-knit team. In addition to the Key Qualifications noted, this role requires a high degree of self-motivation, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to adjust to rapid change.
- Thorough understanding of Software Development and QA methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of macOS and iOS operating systems.
- Experience using and/or developing command line tools.
- Experience with audio recording/editing/processing tools highly desirable.
- Background in scripting and developing test automation.
- Python experience would be very useful.
- Being an active Photos user highly desirable.
- 3+ years SW QA Experience required.
This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong QA experience. While you don’t necessarily need to be a musician, having a greater-than-passing interest in music and audio technology is very helpful. You will work closely with engineers and your peers in QA to design, create, execute and maintain manual and automated test suites and be responsible for reporting on testing progress and the overall “health” of your feature area(s) throughout the development cycle. You will create problem reports and then track their resolution through completion; create targeted tools to help facilitate testing for yourself and others; and contribute ideas to the brainstorming and development of new and innovative features going forward.
