As a Software and Controls Engineering Project Manager within Apple’s Special Projects Group (SPG), you will be responsible for managing development, integration, and delivery of complex embedded control systems. You will be working with cross-functional engineering teams to bring a concept through the development lifecycle and driving software efforts using Agile software development principles. In addition to setting clear goals and priorities, you will manage project schedules, budgets, and vendor interactions. We are a group of self-starters, capable of providing on-site leadership with an eye for detail. We have a solid track record of delivering projects on time while exemplifying the utmost attention to quality.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant working experience
  • Experience in controller development and project management
  • Experience working with embedded software
  • Experience in Agile SW development principles
  • Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • A clear track record of making a difference in the projects you drive
  • Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of ambiguity
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of product development processes

  • Experience interfacing with operations team, vendors and contractors
  • Strong engineering / technical background


Drive project development; defining scope of work, schedule, roadmap, and budget Identify and prioritize project tasks and risks Look around corners to spot the challenges and opportunities ahead Help define corrective action and technical solutions for engineering issues Define configuration management for SW releases Decompose system requirements to SW requirements and engineering specifications Perform architecture analysis to determine if engineering specifications are met Help define corrective action and technical solutions for engineering issues Understand and communicate complex, technical, engineering issues Coordinate technical design reviews; communicating project status and top engineering issues to project team and management Help define SW development processes and integration test strategies for project Coordinate work planning including sprint planning, sprint management Facilitate lessons learned from key development activities Coordinate design process to ensure design meets intended project goals Advocate for investment in key tools, processes, or strategies needed to keep productivity high Drive suppliers / vendors, integrating their deliverables and schedules into project Coordinate work planning including sprint planning, sprint management
