The IS&T User Experience Design team is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer to lead strategy, design and research for key internal tools. The ideal candidate should bring previous experience working within a UX organization and a strong appreciation for UX design and strategic planning. As part of the UX leadership team you will contribute to building an environment where design and research thrive. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and inspiring individual who meets the following characteristics: You believe that UX is everyone’s job. For that reason, you have led programs to successfully promote user-centered design methods and design thinking with people outside of the UX practice You are instrumental in helping build a strong UX organization by contributing processes that helped develop and grow it’s members You have a strong point-of-view on the role that design and research need to play in order to become a critical driver of business strategy and have a series of design-driven successes in your recent past You have both the vision and the change management expertise to truly grow the capabilities of experience design and design thinking on a very large scale in highly technical environments

Key Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, product/interaction design, graphic design or related field/s
  • Experience developing and building major online consumer and/or enterprise experiences
  • Expert in design leadership, design strategy, design thinking and user research
  • Expert in Lean UX and Agile methodologies
  • Expert managing cross-functional teams including research, design, and project management
  • Ability to ensure teams deliver on their commitments and ideas
  • Courage to push teams to deliver ideas that go beyond the status quo
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships
  • Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of industry experience in a well established, creative and management role with a proven success track record preferred. Agency/consulting experience a big plus
  • Facilitation
  • Experience in service design
  • User experience research (Both qualitative and quantitative; generative and evaluative)
  • Design management and leadership

Education & Experience

BS or MS in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science,Graphic Design, or Computer Science with an emphasis on UI development
