Description

- We look up to you to monitor and update internal teams on global regulations for restricted substances. - Develop a nuanced understanding of regulatory trends and best available science to identify chemicals of concern in various materials and electronics products in order to drive voluntary restriction programs. - Collaborate across the Apple organization to ensure business and environmental objectives are met. Rapidly synthesize and effectively communicate findings to senior leaders, actively identify potential environmental issues that can affect product design and contribute to solutions. - Partner internally and with suppliers to track the use of materials, identify substances that should be removed due to their hazardous properties, investigate safer alternatives, and drive execution of phase out programs. Ensure supplier compliance assurance systems are in place. Train and engage suppliers to provide compliance and material information - Create environmental specifications, conduct supporting analysis to restrict substances with potential human health or environmental impacts, and implement restrictions and phase out initiatives. DELIVERABLES - Evolve Apple’s restricted substances policies, including the Apple Regulated Substances Specification, engaging internal teams and suppliers to drive implementation - Contribute to the evolution and design of Apple compliance assurance systems that enable selection of better materials and compliance, including supplier Full Material Disclosure (FMD) - Advise on analytical test methods, review test reports for specification violations, work with internal teams to assess the impact, and drive the phase out process - Work with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and toxicologists in support of alternatives assessments - Support product sustainability standards to promote smarter chemistry
