Support the Audio Product Design team in characterization and validation of designs.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience producing written scientific test reports
  • Good understanding of the scientific method and how to apply it in a product development environment
  • Hands-on experience in prototype work and building of test jigs and fixtures
  • Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, laser cutter, 3D printers)
  • Hands-on experience with electronic product assembly
  • Basic soldering skills


Managing one or more lab spaces, including procurement of lab supplies and tools Building of electronic devices and mechanical fixtures necessary for testing products Testing prototype samples and provide reports Analyzing test data to identify product defects, and report findings

Education & Experience

Technician diploma from either a mechatronics / mechanical / electronics program or greater

Additional Requirements

  • Experience with metrology equipment (CMM, OMM, microscopy, laser scanners)
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems - (HBM, Nat'l Instruments)
  • Proficiency with Keynote and Numbers (or PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Experience with technical writing, for communicating test plans & results
  • Experience using Instron or other materials testing equipment
  • CAD modeling and drafting skills (SolidWorks, Pro/e, NX, etc).
  • Familiarity with telemetry (force sensors, accelerometers, lasers, temperature, pressure)
  • Experience installing and using strain gauges
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Experience with basic electronics equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter)
  • Strong organization skills - for tools and equipment, as well as for collected data, reports
  • Good mechanical intuition and/or hands-on experience with small/delicate electromechanical devices
  • Great computer skills: Mac & PC
  • Acoustic measurements
  • Shock and vibration testing
  • Environmental testing
  • Programming (MATLAB, LabView, Python, etc)
