The iOS System UI team is looking for creative, talented, and hard-working software engineers to join our performance team. You will contribute to design, analysis, tools, and implementation across the core components of iOS. You will be a software explorer investigating the home screen, the keyboard, control center and more. You’ll be part of a team that cares deeply about how different aspects and metrics of performance combine into the look and feel of iOS, and drives those qualities across the release cycle.

In this role, you will collaborate broadly across the software organization. You will prototype new ideas, build tools and features, and ensure high quality releases. You will have the opportunity to dig into deep and complicated performance problems that span all levels of the software stack with a constant focus on overall improvements. Each day will bring new challenges and opportunities to make changes large and small. You will trade stories of optimizations and hard-to-solve problems with your co-workers as you subtly drop new tools and capabilities into the conversation. Along the way, you will be expected to identify trends and anomalies and propose new tools to automatically analyze problems across the system. Our focus is on the core UI components of iOS, but our impact is across the entire software organization. Our goals are simple but the task is large; create the most amazing products on the planet that our customers will love.

Education & Experience

Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Additional Requirements

  • Would be a plus:
  • Existing knowledge of Objective-C and or Swift
  • Existing experience with Apple’s development APIs (Cocoa, Cocoa Touch, CoreFoundation, CoreGraphics, etc)
  • Existing experience with performance analysis tools like Instruments or DTrace
  • Existing experience with graphics technologies like CoreAnimation, Metal, and Op
