The Audio Product and Home Acoustics team is responsible for the acoustic design and overall audio quality of the EarPod, AirPod and HomePod product lines. We are motivated to share our love of audio so that anyone can be moved by sound the way that we are. We are a diverse team having expertise in acoustic design and integration, algorithm prototyping, critical listening and hearing science. We work daily with multi-functional teams to find innovative solutions to complex engineering issues. We are searching for an experienced Audio Prototyping Engineer to help bring our products and technologies to the next level.
- A deep understanding of real-time DSP (filter design options for real time processing)
- Proficient with Matlab and Max/MSP
- Proven experience in the application of technologies for audio improvement, including equalization, dynamic compression and real time filter design
- A good understanding of audio processing on embedded systems
- A good understanding of metrics used to quantify audio quality both objectively and subjectively
- Critical and analytical listening skills
- Background and familiarity in Audiology and Hearing Science is advantageous
You will be prototyping and evaluating new audio technologies and product concepts, which will require high level software prototyping and potentially hardware prototyping. The role involves validation through acoustic tests and user studies, helping to drive product specifications to support feature implementation. As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (software, hardware integration, user interaction). International travel to support development activities is required (approximately 15%).
Education & Experience
Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Acoustics, Signal Processing, Computer Science, Hearing Science or an equivalent field, but if you’ve followed a different path to expertise in audio or acoustics, we still want to hear from you.
