The Camera Hardware Engineering group is responsible for the design, development, and innovation of camera hardware for all related Apple products. Our target is to deliver superior camera hardware to enable best-in-class camera user experience. We are looking for a test development engineer to develop and support custom lens testing equipment.
- You will have hands-on experience with automation and hardware/software interaction of typical optics lab equipment: cameras, sensors, precision stages/mounts, controllers, etc.
- Experience using Python, Matlab, VB, C#, or similar for lab equipment control, data collection, and data analysis.
- CAD drafting and design experience with NX is a plus.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and machine shop.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and manage priorities appropriately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Develop and automate lens testing equipment involving illumination sources (LEDs, lasers, lamps), motorized stages/actuators, and a variety of optical elements (lenses, mirrors, etc). Build, maintain, calibrate, and operate a wide variety of off the shelf and custom optical and mechanical characterization tools. Provide written documentation of procedures, setups, and experimental results, with strong attention to detail. Work with internal and external teams to design and manufacture custom mechanical parts, including lens fixtures and tester enclosures. Deploy and support test equipment, both internally and at suppliers. Travel to support design/production/supplier teams as necessary. Investigate hardware issues found during the development of new camera modules. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, and Validation.
Education & Experience
B.S in Optics, Physics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with 2-5 years industry experience preferred.
