The Special Project Group at Apple is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to define requirements and use cases, derive specifications, lead validation and verification, and help define our future autonomous systems sensor suite. You will work closely with platform systems engineering, module hardware teams, outside partners, and our autonomy team. Key Qualifications

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Systems Engineering, or other relevant engineering fields
  • 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced technology-driven organization
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with autonomous systems in design, integration, and testing
  • 5+ years of industry experience developing complex system requirements evaluation and characterization
  • Ability to understand complex technical systems and come up to speed quickly on new technologies
  • Ability to adapt, operate, and flourish under ambiguity
  • Strong technical and non-technical communication skills
  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency


- Develop and define use cases that bound key sensor capabilities - Perform simulation and analyses to support use cases and derived requirements - Design and support experiments with the autonomy team to inform capability trades - Create, manage and trace well-defined, justified, and verifiable sensor and platform requirements - Develop verification and validation plans, and manage the execution of those plans - Maintain a strong relationship with our hardware teams and external vendors - Integrate with platform systems engineering to define sensor and platform needs and roadmaps - Communicate across teams and outside organizations about team progress & needs - Build and manage relationships with all relevant partners Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity. Education & Experience

M.S. in Engineering + minimum of 5 years of industry experience PHd. in Engineering + minimum of 3 years of industry experience

  • - Expertise in autonomous sensor technologies and suppliers
  • - Experience with safety-certified hardware programs
  • - Expertise in robotics, autonomous systems, or aerospace sensor platforms
  • - Expertise in hardware and embedded software
  • - Sensor modeling and simulation experience (MATLAB, Python)
