Be a significant part of the HWTE Core Infrastructure team that is at the center of the Apple Factory’s Development Process in delivering software rapidly to factories located globally. We develop IT systems to improve the productivity of engineers developing Factory test stations for new products. We are looking for a DevOps Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) well versed in building, recreating and maintaining various application environments. Ideal applicant should be a software engineer at their core, with a deep interest and curiosity for developer environments and coding elements of infrastructure. Hardware Test Engineering Core Infrastructure team is looking for a DevOPs SRE who will be responsible for maintaining a worldwide assortment of mission-critical UNIX systems running in-house custom applications in support of Apple manufacturing efforts. Candidate should have wide-ranging exposure and different levels of experience with standard Unix technologies, the ability to independently prioritize different projects, and a track record of timely execution using industry best practices.

Key Qualifications

  • 7+ years of UNIX/Linux system administration in heterogeneous environments
  • 7+ years of Shell scripting, interpreted or compiled languages such as Zsh, Perl, Ruby, Python, C or C++
  • 5+ CI/CD Pipeline management
  • 5+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies tools:
  • Developer environment tools - Docker, Vagrant, Kubernetes, AWS
  • Configuration management tools - Ansible, Puppet, Chef or similar code-review and CI technologies: Jenkins, Phabricator, Github (or similar)
  • Experience leveraging and managing 3rd party vendors
  • Additional Qualifications
  • System and application log aggregation and analytics (syslog-ng/Splunk/ELK)
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (non-standard Subnet Masks, VLANing, Firewalling vs Layer 3 routing, etc)
  • Proven ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies as required to support new projects
  • Experience with Unix shell scripting
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

Responsibilities include: -Architect, build and maintain -CI/CD Pipeline for an array of applications -Developer environments for project developer teams -Infrastructure as Code for environment consistency and reproducibility -Partner with infrastructure teams to build scalable environments that meet the needs of both developer and customer -Give presentations and colloquium-style tech reviews on best practices to Sr. Management teams -Achieve and maintain expected productivity levels with minimal supervision -Act as a mentor and interact with team members at all levels of skill and cross functional expertise

Education & Experience

BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
