Apple’s Hardware Web Tools team is looking for a talented DevOps Engineer with a passion for crafting infrastructure to support our backend engineering efforts. This team is responsible for developing tools and services that support all new hardware product development at Apple. The applications we develop are used by thousands of employees creating the next consumer product to surprise and delight our customers. Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience as a DevOps engineer in a commercial setting
  • Experience with Unix utilities, configuration, and administration
  • Familiarity with modern web service architectures and cloud platforms
  • Experience in configuration management technologies (Ansible/Chef/ Puppet) and container services (Docker/Kubernetes)
  • Experience with build/release (CI/CD) pipelines and methodologies (Jenkins/Hudson)
  • Experience in deploying/supporting applications in AWS or similar cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and storage with NoSQL (Cassandra) and relational (Postgres) databases
  • Programming and scripting proficiency in one or more of the following: o PHP
  • o Python o Ruby
  • o Rust
  • o Swift
  • Knowledge of load balancer software (HAproxy, nginx)
  • Use of tools such as Splunk, ELK, Sentry, or Matomo for systems monitoring and alerts
  • Experience with developing microservices a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical capabilities
  • Confirmed ability to work as part of a small, focused team to complete critical achievements with tight deadlines
  • Articulate communicator with both written and spoken word


Design/implement scalable infrastructure to support our web applications Design/implement a common, standard deployment approach across a heterogeneous set of applications and services Develop microservices to support our tools and eliminate duplication of functionality in each application Maintain and support the above infrastructure Support the HW Web Tools engineering staff in developing new tools and providing guidance on best practices

Education & Experience

BS, CS or meaningful work experience required.
